READING THE SILENCE sind zeichnerische Beobachtungen des Lesens verschiedenster Texte in gedanklicher Vorbereitung auf die Sound-Installationen SILENCE. Jahna Dahms beobachtet 25 Lesende und erfasst Wiederholungen, Pausen des Nachdenkens, des Weiterlesens und des Zurückblätterns zeichnerisch. Die READING THE SILENCE Zeichnungen können als Spur den Denkens und Lesens verstanden werden. Signifikante Unterschiede im Textumgang und dem Denkrhythmus zeigen sich zwischen verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen und Denktraditionen. Die Serie der SILENCE Zeichnungen umfasst bisher 168 Bleistiftzeichnungen auf Papier in den Maßen 42 x42 cm.
READING THE SILENCE are graphic observations of reading various texts in mental preparation for the sound installations SILENCE. Jahna Dahms observes 25 readers and draws repetitions, pauses for reflection, reading on and turning back the pages. The READING THE SILENCE drawings can be understood as a trace of thinking and reading. Significant differences in the way the text is handled and the rhythm of thought are evident between different scientific disciplines and traditions of thought. The series of SILENCE drawings comprises 168 pencil drawings on paper measuring 42 x 42 cm.
